Yacht and Motorboat
As a general rule, recreational craft are defined as various types of floating craft with a registered tonnage of up to 80 tonnes, a passenger capacity of up to 12 persons and a main engine power of less than 55 kW. Small craft also include vessels with piston engines, regardless of their power, and sailing boats, rowing boats and other non-powered craft.
In the case of a normal recreational craft insurance, the insurer covers the following losses suffered by the owner, charterer or other legal owner of the vessel:
- Losses related to the total, actual or constructive destruction of the insured vessel, as well as the costs of repairing or replacing the hull, machinery, equipment or other parts of the vessel, if they are caused by one of the following causes:
- fire, whether on or off the insured vessel, as well as the cost of extinguishing the fire;
- storm, lightning, earthquake, hail, windfall and other natural disasters, as well as overturning of a ship or its grounding or running aground;
- collision with another ship or other object, including port installations;
- an explosion on board an insured ship;
- accidents during launching, recovering from the water or when the recreational craft is berthed;
- accidents during loading or unloading of cargo, fuel, stores, etc. on board a ship.
- Losses due to theft, theft or hijacking of a ship or parts of a ship, including damage to or destruction of a ship due to attempted theft, theft or hijacking.
- Damage caused by partial or total intentional damage to the vessel by third parties (hooliganism, vandalism).
Reasonable and necessary expenses incurred to salvage the vessel, as well as expenses incurred to reduce the damage and to quantify the damage (expert costs).
In addition to the above-mentioned risks, it is also possible, by agreement between the parties, to add liability insurance against third parties to the insurance cover, i.e. compensation for damage caused by the shipowner or shipowner to third parties. Some examples of insured events with such cover are:
- Removal of wreck from insured vessel;
- Environmental pollution related to the spillage of fuel or other technical fluids from an insured vessel;
- Damage to the life or health of third parties;
- Damage to vessels belonging to third parties;
- Damage to the property of third parties, such as damage to berths, navigation marks or port facilities.
We are sure to be able to select the risk cover needed for each individual owner of a recreational craft on the most favourable terms.
