Accident insurance
We always welcome pleasant surprises, but we are never quite prepared for the accidents that can happen at any moment – whether it’s at work or when we’re doing sports and other activities. Of course, an insurance policy cannot prevent an accident, but it can help to alleviate the financial hardship that follows, which is one of the main reasons for taking out insurance.
The most basic protection provided by accident insurance consists of payouts in the event of death or disability:
The death benefit is paid if the death is caused by an accident and the accident is reported on the same day or within 1-3 years after the accident at the latest.
Permanentdisability – if the accident results in a permanent impairment or disability.
As additional safeguards you can choose from:
- Financial compensation for damage to health – paid as a lump sum, according to the financial compensation table.
- Daily allowance – payout in the event of temporary incapacity for work lasting more than 7-8 days as a result of an accident.
- Reimbursement of medical expenses – covers medical services not reimbursed by the sickness insurance fund (if they are related to an accident).
The level of risk, the insurance limits and the size of premiums depend on the following factors:
- Nature of work and position
- Level of involvement in sport (professional or recreational)
- Chronic illnesses or previous accidents
- Period of cover: 24 hours a day, during working hours or outside working hours only.
- Salary level
